Re: Codland expects every Hinckley man to do their duty

Well what can you say after that.
Excellent idea to tamper with the lights in order to unsettle the scouseport.
Not just a win but also put a serious dent in their goal difference.
Big thankyou to all the Hinckley crew. Now just concentrate on not going bust and fucking up all the points.

That said, from past results, any team is capable of hammering any other in this league, so I fully expect FTFC to have a couple of shockers before seasons end. Top, bottom and middle of the league can still change drastically in the next couple of months, so anything is possible.
Sorry for breaking forum rules by not behaving in the expected Cod sterotype of being an opinionated, bigoted, prick, but I am still a newbie so still learning.

The real difference is that Fleetwood can make wholesale changes after a result like that - we can't. We will be down to the bare bones in the next few weeks now, unless by some miracle we find an extra few quid for a couple of signings (we won't). It is a shame that, after two seasons of falling short, Liam has got it right only to come up against a side that are prepared to buy the league... but it's not over yet.

Re: Codland expects every Hinckley man to do their duty

Agreed its definately not over, dont even think  Mac & Port are definate to share 1st & 2nd places yet.

Disagree with the ongoing statement about "buying the league".

On taking over Fleetwood, Andy Pilley had a clear view of where he wanted to see the club in the future, ie Football league staus. Everything he has done since then has been driven towards this end, both on and off the field.

Looking at the BSN over the past few seasons, good teams like teflon and port have fallen short due to the fact that when the going gets tough towards the end of the season, they havn't had the resources to keep their push going. Given that fact IF you have the funds, then you obviously take steps to avoid this problem.

Secondly, while you cannot guarntee promotion, if you have a realistic chance, it is only sensible to plan for that BEFORE it happens. As we all know lots of clubs who gain promotion, think great, then shit what do we do now.

I regard myself as being very lucky to support a team that currently has a very astute and minted chairman, I am also aware that apart from paying my gate money etc I have contributed fuck all to its success, so while I am totally chuffed at our current position, apart from the usual banter, I have not desire to lord it over other Club fans.

Re: Codland expects every Hinckley man to do their duty

What else can you possibly call it though? Fleetwood are not top because of astute management, you are top because you've spent more money than anyone else. That to me is buying the league, although I'm sure you couldn't really give a shit what I think - you sound like one of the few who knew there was football in Fleetwood before Pilley brought the circus to town (as does Fleetwood74) and so have probably waited many years for this sort of progress. Having said that, it makes an absolute mockery of the competition - if Watson takes us up this year it will be an absolute bloody miracle given the sort of cash he's working with and what we are competing with.

As for the league, I can't see anybody else breaking the top two - we are actually quite a way ahead of our tally at the equivalent stage of our championship season. We really need reinforcements though, and I can't see where they'll come from - Liam is good at spotting young players though (Carl Baker, Mark Duffy etc) so you never know.

Fair play - he may have announced himself here with some piss-poor trolling but that is both readable and reasonable. He must be a God in Fleetwood.

I'm not at work today, cocker. I am obviously far too important when at work to be on here during the day... this is my way of avoiding loads of paperwork bollocks I should be doing until Countdown starts. Anyway, compared to some I am an Internet hermit.

I am on here way too much, and I am at work.

I must have missed the bit in the BSN rules where it says you are only allowed to win the league if you have no money and piss poor players.

Bye the way whats wrong with your rear headlights. Vectra's a bit like french tanks, 4 reverse gears and 1 forward (just in case the enemy attack from behind) I know piss poor joke.

I don't have any rear headlights, or even a car. You are beginning to go a bit strange again.

Fair enough. I might knock one out to be honest - if I've got the day off I might as well enjoy it.

Isn't more of a shock when they're not of the bandwagon type? Or is like Wigan Athletic fans who have "been going for 30 years" but obviously weren't included in the attendance figure when they had 200 on against Witton Albion.

I suppose with any club on the 'up', crowds are going to increase, but it's when those who join for the ride try to make out they're one of the true die-hard fans who've supported a club through thick & thin, that gets people's back up. hmm

Re: Codland expects every Hinckley man to do their duty

What a dilemma,

Do I recite my life history in the hope that the "true die-hard cods" take pity on me and allow me to become a very junior member of THEIR gang. Or do I run away and hide out of shame and intimidation for not attending every game home and away for the last 50 years.

On reflection, I think I will just be myself and continue to support my home town team, the way I want to. I am a bit to old to give a shite about what any 'self appointed gaurdian of the truth' opinion of me is. big_smile big_smile big_smile
